October – Thinking outside the Block –
Lecture Demo/trunk show. A creative journey with “Build as you Go” machine quilting with Amy Smith
Amy and her husband Glenn own Brubakers Sewing Center in Newfoundland PA. They specialize in
German retro Pfaff sales and service. Amy is a graduate of Illinois State University in Fashion and
Design and her professional experience has been in the household sewing machine industry since 1980.
Amy has a special love and fascination with sewing machines and is recognized for her gift of utilizing
them to their fullest potential. She is the author of several books and patterns on Build as you go
machine quilting as well as individual patterns.
November – Journey into Quilting and Dimensional Thread
Painting with Joyce Hughes.
Lecture/ Trunk show
Joyce hails from Asbury New Jersey. She is an award winning self-taught quilter who felt limited in
the ability to express her artistic capabilities with regular quilting. She will tell us how she got started
on her journey and share some of her quilts. She has also authored several books and teaches at AQS shows and cruises.
December – Holiday Party/Luncheon
January – Stackin and whackin workshop with our own Mary
Helen Ames.
Mary Helen’s skill sharing last February impressed so many of us that she has agreed to do a workshop with us on just how to make these gems.
More information will follow as what you need for this class.
February – What about Color?
Lecture/ Trunk Show. Our own Mary E Kieras will clear up the fog surrounding how to
use color in your quilts and show us some surprising results. This will be an interactive lecture so be
prepared for some surprises!
March – Fun with Paper-Piecing with Carolee Rounsaville
Workshop
Carolee hails from Conshohocken and is a paper
piecing expert. It was very high on the wish list of our
members in our survey and Carolee is just the person to
help you get it sorted out. She does a very fun
workshop and you will take your project home finished!
April – Mini-Mosaic Quilts
Workshop
Lynn lives in Coopersburg PA and was recommended by one of own members for her mini-mosaic quilts. Her
workshop requires no machine and she has very reasonable kits for it. More information at a later date.
May – Bringing Quilting to the next Generation with Rachel Rossi
Lecture/ trunk show
Rachel grew up in central PA around quilts in her mothers quilt shop. She now lives in Lancaster county with her husband and children and works out of her
home design studio. She is a quilt, pattern and surface designer offering patterns, templates and fabric. She designs contemporary quilt patterns and designs for
Benartex fabrics. She is part of the new generation of quilters!
